1. Exit all programs running on your PC and Pocket PC and ensure that your Pocket PC is properly connected and synchronised with your PC using ActiveSync.

    Now, click here to download the Pocket PC software

    Should a dialog window appear, select the 'Open' option to continue.

  2. The Direct Assist® installation program will now commence, click 'Next' when you are ready to proceed.

  3. When the Licence Agreement window appears, use the scroll bars to read the information. Select the 'I accept the terms in the licence agreement' circle when you are satisfied, then select 'Finish' to proceed.

  4. Now, a popup window asking if you'd like to install the Direct Assist® software to the default installation directory will appear.

    To install the Direct Assist® software to Main Memory select 'Yes'.

    To install the Direct Assist® software to a Storage Card, select 'No' and manually choose a location to store the program.

  5. The installation software will now automatically install the Direct Assist® software to your Pocket PC.

  6. If the installation was successful, your PC will prompt you to follow the instructions on your Pocket PC to finalise the installation. Select the 'Continue' button the close the installation program on your PC.

    NB - If the installation has failed and the Direct Assist® software welcome screen is not displayed on your Pocket PC, please refer to the Direct Assist® FAQ section of the web site for possible solutions.

  7. Your Pocket PC will now display the Direct Assist® welcome screen. Scroll through the information on this screen using the scroll bars. Select 'Continue' to proceed.

  8. Once a mode has been selected, the Direct Assist® software will provide you with a series of options to purchase or trial the software.

    1. 'Start Free Trial' allows you to sample the Direct Assist® application. Our Free Trial gives you 3 trial searches to get a feel for our application.

    2. 'Purchase Full Software' provides an easy way to purchase a subscription to the Direct Assist® software on the fly. Subscribing to Direct Assist® entitles you to unlimited directory searches and all software updates for the term of your subscription.

    3. 'Enter Software Key' should only be chosen if you have already purchased a Software Key from www.directassist.com.au.

  9. You are now given the option to choose a mode of operation which varies the display format of the Direct Assist® software. You can alternate between these modes at any time at your convenience by selecting the appropriate Mode from the 'Options' menu. These modes are:

    Direct Assist Mode: minimises data transfer and provides an easy to use interface designed specifically for the mobile environment. Direct Assist Mode is required for direct dialling.

    Browser Mode: provides direct web access to both local and overseas web based directory services.

    Please Note: users may be subject to network data traffic charges. The objective of operating the Direct Assist® software in Direct Assist Mode is to minimise such traffic charges.

    You are now ready to use Direct Assist®. And remember, you have 3 free searches to get a feel for our software.

  1. Exit all programs running on your PC and Smartphone and ensure that your Smartphone is properly connected and synchronised with your PC using ActiveSync.

    Now, click here to download the Smartphone software

    Should a dialog window appear, select the 'Open' option to continue.

  2. The Direct Assist® software installation program will now commence, click 'Next' when you are ready to proceed.

  4. The installation software will now automatically upload the Direct Assist® installation software to your Smartphone.

  5. Your Smartphone may now produce a message alerting you that the software you are installing comes from an unknown source. Ignore this message and select 'Yes' to proceed.

  6. Your PC will now prompt you to follow the instructions that will now appear on your Smartphone to finalise the installation. Select the 'Continue' button to close the installation program on your PC.

  7. Now, using your Smartphone, choose the location where you wish to store the Direct Assist® software. GoConnect recommends installing to your phone's memory. To do this, select 'Phone' and then 'Done'. To install the Direct Assist® software to a Memory Card, choose 'Mounted Volume' or 'Storage Card' and then select 'Done'.

    NB - If the installation failed and the Direct Assist® welcome screen is not displayed on your Smartphone, please refer to the Direct Assist® FAQ section of the web site for possible solutions.

  8. Your Smartphone will now display the Direct Assist® welcome screen. Scroll through the information on this screen using the scroll bars and select 'Continue' to open the Direct Assist® application on your Smartphone.
