Mobile Access To Directory Services Made Easier Through Direct Assist®

GoConnect Australia Pty Ltd (GoConnect), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian listed GoConnect Ltd (GCN) has launched DirectAssist®, a cost-effective, easy-to-use search tool for Windows enabled mobile phones which allows users to access phone numbers from online directory services.

"Direct Assist® is a search tool for mobile devices that allows users to access third party web-based phone directory services cost effectively in a number of countries," said Wilson Wen, Senior General Manager of Research and Development at GoConnect.

The first release of the product includes access to the USA and Australia and will shortly expand to include Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Germany and Malaysia.

Anthony Voglis, GoConnect's Senior General Manager said: "The expansion of additional countries under the Direct Assist® software is significant in that it will allow the company to target markets which have a significant uptake of these mobile devices."

The software application, which is available from www.directassist.com.au on either a 3 month term $5.99 AUD or a 12 month term $14.99 AUD, allows users to refine their search and receive only the result they request thus minimising GPRS network traffic charges.

Once the search results are achieved, the user can simply select the number they require for direct dialling as opposed to expensive operator assisted call connections.

"Initial discussions with Original Equipment Manufacturers domestically and off-shore as well as online software resellers have been very positive and we expect to announce distribution deals over the coming months," added Mr Voglis.

"Users of the software now have a real cost effective alternative to search for required phone numbers. By using Direct Assist®, users do not incur the high price of interacting with traditional directory services, or excess data download via Internet connections through GPRS."

For users who are constantly on the move and require a phone number, DirectAssist® creates a competitive cost advantage over other methods of sourcing required numbers in an easy-to-use search application.
